Creeksider's are invited to participate in the Creekside Commitment which consists of 3 unique rhythms or practices that engage us in living like Jesus so we can love like Jesus. Scan the code to learn more or commit. If you choose to join us, you’ll receive encouragement along the way and a sense of being part of a movement bigger than you.
Scripture consistently views the start and end of each day as holy moments. Furthermore, our first and last thoughts of each day have a disproportionate impact on our lives.

We commit to start and end each day by turning our attention to God through quiet moments spent with Him and in His word.

By saying no to our appetites, we learn to die to our self-oriented impulses and desires. And by enjoying God’s bounty with our neighbors, we awaken our souls to the hope that is ours in Christ Jesus.

We commit to a regular practice of self-denial and celebration through fasting and feasting.

Types of Fasts:
SELECTIVE FAST
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which meat, sweets, and bread are removed from your diet, while you consume water & juice for fluids and fruits & vegetables for food.

COMPLETE FAST
In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water, with light juices as an option. It is typically a longer fast (3-day or 7-day). We don't recommend implementing a complete fast for lengthy seasons like Lent, but you might want to engage in one or more at some point during that time.

PARTIAL FAST
This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown. This could be implemented daily for a period of time, or as a pattern followed on certain days of the week. It can be a regular practice, or one undertaken for a special season like Lent.

SOUL FAST
This fast is a great option if you have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully introduce those elements back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.

The timing of your fast is not as important as the strength of your focus on God as you fast. Seek the Lord about how you might implement a type of fast, whether regularly or as part of a special season like Lent.
Across the pages of Scripture, we see clear priority given to the consistent assembling of God’s people. We also find a recurring theme of dispersement or sending. In each case, we find God emphasizing our proximity to others as vital.

We commit to a weekly rhythm of gathering in community with our church family and then going on mission into the world around us.
